Power System Protection training course
This training course addresses all the main topics and trends relating to power system protection. It provides the knowledge and guidelines needed for the design and setting of modern power system protection systems
Series 1 Beginner Course: Real-Time Control Design and Simulation with MATLAB – using TERASOFT Electro-Mechanical Engineering Control System (EMECS) (with hands-on training)
The introductory course in control system engineering provides participants with a fundamental understanding of fundamental concepts in real-time control systems using Matlab/ Simulink. This course will provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the fundamental concepts in real-time control systems using Micro-Box, which allows participants and engineers to model physical systems and execute them in real-time. Micro-Box is a low-cost, high-performance platform for rapid control prototyping applications that integrates with the MathWorks® family of products, including MATLAB®, Simulink®, xPC TargetTM, and Real-Time Workshop (RTW)®.
Series 2 Intermediate Course: Real-Time Control Design and Simulation with MATLAB – using TERASOFT Electro-Mechanical Engineering Control System (EMECS) (with hands-on training)
The intermediate course is an extended of the beginner course in Real-Time Control Systems with Matlab/Simulink that provides extensive hands-on training for researchers and mechatronic system designers. Participants will learn about the theory of Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) and its applications in real-time control systems. Attendees will apply FLC concepts and explore its advantages over Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control through simulation exercises. The course emphasises application by providing experimental sessions that allow participants to apply FLC in real-world scenarios. participants will have a solid skill set for researching and prototyping mechatronic systems by the end of the course, with a strong foundation in FLC and real-time control.
Electrical Engineering Drawing using AutoCAD 2D
The Electrical Engineering Drawing using AutoCAD 2D course will help participants familiarize themselves with the AutoCAD software interface, controls, and toolbars. The training covers Draw Commands, status bar tools, Modify Commands, text, dimensioning, template preparation, and plotting. It also provides exercise for the participant to draw electrical symbols and apply the Block command. A simple electrical load calculation will be introduced before designing the electrical Single Line Diagram (SLD). The participant will experience best practices, errors, technical issues, and ways to overcome them while using the software.
Power System Protection Practical (Testing & Calibration)
This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the operation, testing, and maintenance of 11kV Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs). It covers the practical aspects of VCB operation, including the procedures for safely racking in and racking out the breaker, performing essential tests such as phasing, contact resistance, and insulation resistance, and the calibration of protection relays. Participants will also gain hands-on experience in conducting these tests and ensuring the proper functionality and safety of the VCB and associated protection devices. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of 11kV VCB operation, the ability to perform critical tests and calibrations, and the practical skills necessary to maintain and ensure the reliability and safety of high-voltage electrical systems.
Electricity Supply Act 1990 & Electricity Regulations 1994
This course will provide a comprehensive exposure to the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and the Electricity Regulations 1994. Each section of the Act and Regulations will be explained in detail, along with case studies. This course is highly suitable as preparation for anyone planning to become a competent person in ST (electricians, machinery operators, competent electrical engineers)
Electrical Engineering for Non-electrical Engineers
This course will assist non-electrical engineering and technical staff such as architects, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and technical personnel involved in projects related to the design, maintenance, and construction of electrical power systems. Exposure to the basics of electrical engineering will enhance the understanding of engineering and technical staff about the fundamental principles of electricity, helping in communication and providing a clear understanding of projects related to electrical installations, construction, and maintenance
Basics of Electrical Installation Design in Commercial Buildings (Intermediate)
This course will assist participants in designing electrical systems for commercial buildings. Participants will learn the basic principles, starting from planning space requirements, preparing drawings for electrical equipment, and detailing load calculations. Participants will then begin designing the DB (Distribution Board), SSB (Sub-Station Board), and MSB (Main Switchboard) according to the project requirements. In designing these distribution boards, tasks such as voltage drop calculations and determining capacitor sizes will also be considered. AutoCAD 2D software is used to produce schematic drawings and layouts for electrical installations
